Shopify App Now Uses the JavaScript API Client V5

The Algolia AI Search & Discovery app for Shopify now supports version 5 of the JavaScript API client. Some stores have been automatically migrated from v4 to v5 with the compatibility layer. You can review or change your current search client version under Search options → Search client version to either v5 (recommended), v5 with compatibility layer (which runs v5 while keeping most v4 calls working), or v4 (deprecated).

If your storefront uses custom JavaScript that calls the Algolia client directly, we recommend switching to v5 with compatibility layer first, then updating deprecated v4 calls using the JavaScript upgrade guide.

The compatibility layer is scheduled to be removed on February 14, 2027. Stores using custom v4 client calls should update their code and switch to v5 before then. JavaScript client v4 reaches the end of Algolia support on August 14, 2026, after which Algolia Support can no longer provide support for v4-specific issues.

Schedule Rules With Confidence: Timezone Selection Is Here

Merchandisers running time-sensitive campaigns - flash sales, Black Friday and Cyber Monday promotions, midnight launches can now select a timezone directly in the date range picker when scheduling a rule. The Dashboard defaults to your browser's detected timezone and handles UTC conversion automatically on save, so promotions start and end exactly when intended. Available in the Visual Editor.

AI Agents Can Now Create Algolia Accounts From the CLI

AI agents can now create Algolia accounts and applications directly from the Algolia CLI, extending agent workflows beyond managing existing accounts. Agents can also manage application settings after signup, while sensitive actions such as accepting terms, email verification, and billing changes continue to require human approval. This enables end-to-end agent-driven provisioning with appropriate safeguards. Click here to learn more.

Set up A/B Tests With a Simpler Unified Interface

We redesigned A/B test creation in the dashboard into one consistent experience. Select the test type, configure control and variant settings, set traffic allocation and test duration, and review the setup before launch. Contextual filtering and warnings help reduce configuration errors, making it easier to create correctly configured experiments. Click here to learn more.

Get Targeted Answers With AI Assist

AI Assist now understands your configuration and uses this to provide advice that's tailored and relevant. A question like “Why do I have a high no-results rate?” will be met with targeted guidance on how to change your current set-up. Assist will also provide links to navigate you to relevant parts of the Algolia platform. This allows you to quickly find the relevant solution needed to take action on an Assist conversation. Assist is aware of your application’s current subscription tier and Algolia release version, and will only direct you to features you can access.

Conditionless Rules Can Now Be Created From the Visual Editor

Merchandisers can now create conditionless rules - rules that ‘always apply’ i.e. without a trigger - directly in the Visual Editor. Previously these rules could only be created from the Manual Editor, putting them out of reach for business users. A new Actions menu also lets you create rules unassociated with the current page or query, in the Visual Merchandiser.

DocSearch Hub Centralizes DocSearch Management in the Dashboard

DocSearch now has a dedicated DocSearch Hub in the dashboard, bringing DocSearch resources together in one place. Access the Crawler, Ask AI in Agent Studio, indices, API keys, and UI implementation guidance from a single location. This update reduces navigation across multiple dashboard sections and makes it easier to manage and implement DocSearch.

Adobe Commerce: Query Suggestions and a New Server-Side Search Adapter

This Magento extension update introduces support for Algolia Query Suggestions, including a new configuration option in the Autocomplete menu that lets customers switch between Magento Search Queries and Algolia Query Suggestions. The release also introduces the Algolia Adapter module for server-side rendering of category and search pages, adds a configurable replica limit, and improves paging behavior by respecting Magento grid and list view settings. Breaking change: backend rendering management has been removed from the extension. Customers using server-side rendering must install the Algolia Adapter module to maintain this functionality.
